How links and money work here

Right now there are no affiliate links anywhere on Bahiya, and nothing on the site earns a commission. The rules below are the ones I will follow if that changes.

The rules I follow

  • Every affiliate link is labelled (Ad) immediately before the link, every time it appears. A note in the footer doesn't count as a label.
  • A page or essay built mainly around affiliate links says "Ad" in its title.
  • Affiliate links carry rel="sponsored" so search engines can tell them apart.
  • Commission never decides what I recommend. If a free or donation-based option is better, I link to that instead, with a plain link, because I earn nothing from it.
  • I say clearly when I've used something myself and when I've only researched it.
  • If anything was given to me free or at a discount, I say so next to it.
  • There are no display ads, and no paid placements without a label.
  • I don't repeat a brand's health claims. Nothing recommended here treats any condition.

Affiliate links appear only on this website, on the Recommended page and, labelled, inside essays. The newsletter emails don't carry them.

If a programme requires its own statement, for example Amazon's, it will appear on every page that carries one of its links.

Questions about a specific link are welcome through Substack.
